Why can’t I open a Microsoft Word file my instructor has in the Content area?

You will need to have Microsoft Word on the computer you are using to open the file. If you do and it still will not open, check to see what the file extension is. If it is ".docx", it was created using Microsoft Word 2007, 2010 or 2013 and you won't be able to open it until you update your version of Microsoft Word.

If you have an older or no version of Microsoft Word on your computer, because you are a student at UW-Superior, you can get Office 365 for free. Go to the Get Office 365 website and download the program. Technology Services has created a How to Sign-in and Install Office 365 video tutorial to help you with this process.
