Why can’t my instructor open the file I submitted to the Dropbox?

There are a couple of reasons why they might not be able to open it. If the file contains one of the special characters listed below that the system does not allow or has a consecutive period in the name, your instructor will not be able to open the file.

  • ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) : ;

Another reason could be because you submitted the file in a format they can't open. If you are using a program they do not have on the computer they are using like Pages, they might not be able to open it. There is also a chance that the file itself has a problem and you will need to copy the information from it and create a new document.
