2011 Spirit Pole Day

The First Nations Center at the University of Wisconsin-Superior will be holding a Spirit Pole Ceremony during the spring semester and will be held by the Yellowjacket Union Courtyard and Swenson Hall.

We will have a pipe ceremony and honor song.  We are also recognizing Indigenous Day, an alternative to Columbus Day.
There will be an open forum to discuss the impact of Columbus on the Indigenous people of North America.  We will have a remembrance song for those people and cultures that no longer exist because of Columbus and an honor song will celebrate the fight for truth and the survival of Indigenous people.   A feast will follow.

This event is free and open to the public.
