New Student Induction Ceremony & New Beginnings Luncheon

When: Aug 30, 2013 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

DearFaculty and Staff:

The New Student Induction Ceremony for Fall WoW is scheduled for Friday, August 30th at 11:00am in Thorpe Langley Auditorium. Please remember:

  • All University Staff are strongly encouraged to attend. Please remember to wearschool colors/apparel to this event!
  • Be seated in Thorpe Langley Auditorium by no later than 10:45am. Please be seated towardsthe back of the room, leaving space for the students to be seated in the front rows.
  • Please stand as the students enter.
  • When dismissed by the Chancellor, exit via the front doors of Old Main, stand onboth sides of the steps/sidewalk, and applaud the students as they exit and walk between the two lines of faculty/staff.

NOTE: If it is raining, the ushers will guide you to make two lines in the hallway headed to Erlanson.

The New Beginnings Luncheon will take place Friday,August 30th immediately following the Induction Ceremony (approximately 12pm). All instructors and/or advisors from departments are encouraged to eat lunch while visiting with the new students.

Following the New Beginnings Luncheon, we ask that you walk with the students from your department/major to the New Student Department meetings, slotted from 1-2pm. Team Leaders will be posted in the YU Plaza area to guide students to the next activity (see below).

Following the department meetings, you are all invited to watch (or participate as part of a faculty/staff team!) in our 'Jacket Smash event. It involves some friendly competition between WoW small groups andit is sure to provide some laughter and smiles!
