Avram Segall received his bachelor's degree from UW-Superior in 1968 and his J.D. from New York Law School. He served as Law Secretary to a New Jersey Superior Court Judge before entering private practice. He maintains a full-time law practice in Clifton, New Jersey concentrating in the area of litigation, real estate, family and appellate law. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Law at Montclair State University (MSU) where he has taught since 1979.

In July 2013 he was an invited faculty member at Tianjin University, Tianjin, China for Montclair State University’s "Teaching in English: Enhancing International Faculty Expertise Program”, Methodology and Teaching Workshop for Chinese faculty. He is the co-author of Civil Litigation Fundamentals, and has published several articles and presented nationally on the subjects of ethics, real estate, and teaching.

He previously served on the board of the UW-Superior Foundation from 2005-2014 and was the Advancement Committee Chair. He has also served on the New Jersey Supreme Court Standing Committee on Paralegal Education Attorney Education and Regulation, the Board of the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE), and the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA).

He has been active in his community, honored for giving over 100 hours of pro bono representation to legal services, serving as his condominium board president, and as the attorney-coach for his community ‘s New Jersey State Bar Foundation’s (NJSBA) High School Mock Trial competition.

He and his wife Elizabeth Berin, a Minneapolis native, recently moved from metropolitan New York to a home in the Mid-Hudson Valley with a view of mountains and open areas. The countryside reminds them of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Sweden.
