We want to help kids in education and improve schools. That’s why we give to the Superior Fund.

I was a biology and geography teacher for 32 years at Athens High School near Wausau, WI, and know the importance of education. All three of my sons went to college, one at UW-Superior. I graduated in 1960 when UW-Superior was Superior State College. I was in the Wisconsin National Guard and going through ROTC. I enjoyed myself because many kids were from Hayward, and it made for a friendly, small school where you know your teachers and other students. This is where I met my wife who graduated in 1959.

I grew up in Hayward, and my mother wanted me to go to college because she had been a one-room school teacher. I studied the field of geography-geology and picked up minors in English and biology. I worked for a company in Minneapolis, drawing maps. My wife got me to go back to school for teaching.

My wife and I began donating to education years back in honor of teachers who impacted us. We’ve been at it since, and want to help kids in education and improve schools. That’s why we give to the Superior Fund. It’s all about being involved in your school and being proud of the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Anytime we can help, we go for it. I hope you’ll consider doing the same.
