If we want to cultivate continued growth in each faculty's field of study so that they can teach to the highest standards, it is imperative that faculty are able to take part in these areas without a huge monetary out-of-pocket expense. “With the continued decrease in funds to UW-Superior from federal and state legislatures, it became evident to me that most of the faculty at UW-Superior did not have the departmental funds to go to the conferences that they needed to in order to keep up within their field. They were often using their own funds to take courses or go to national conventions. Many of them do not have the resources to do this, so the opportunity for continuing education is lost.

“If we want to cultivate continued growth in each faculty’s field of study so that they can teach to the highest standards, it is imperative that faculty are able to take part in these areas without a huge monetary out-of-pocket expense. That is why I was compelled to donate to the campaign pillar Invest in People, specifically for faculty use to allow them to more easily participate in their continuing education. This enables them to keep abreast of new knowledge and changing fundamentals for the betterment of their teaching experience.”
