POSITION:

Assistant Professor of Physical Education K-12/Adapted Physical Education

DUTIES:

  • Teach 12 credits per semester of physical education courses at the undergraduate level in online and on-campus formats.
  • Advise students majoring in K-12 Physical Education and other students as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure our K-12 Physical Education teacher preparation program maintains compliance with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
  • Create and establish a record of successful scholarship activities.
  • Participate in department, university, community and professional service.
  • Perform other departmental duties as needed.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with area schools, communities, and alumni.
  • Provide an on-campus presence to meet with and to serve students, and to work with colleagues in the department and across campus to fulfill service roles.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned Ph.D, D.P.E. or Ed.D. in Kinesiology or related field with preparation in physical education teacher education by August 24, 2021.
  • Experience in teaching Physical Education K-12 with experience with Adapted Physical Education.
  • Minimum three (3) years public school teaching experience at K-12 level as required by State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
  • Evidence of current involvement with Physical Education K-12 (Teaching, University instruction and/or professional associations in leadership roles).
  • Experience with planning for assessment and evaluation of K-12 students in Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE).
  • Demonstrated potential to teach, conduct research, and engage in scholarly and creative activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Evidence of successful undergraduate teaching in Physical Education Teacher Education related coursework.
  • Focused research agenda relative to the position.
  • Evidence of professional activities.
  • University level teaching experience including both in person and on-line course work including Graduate Teaching Assistant.

STARTING DATE:

August 25, 2021 or earlier.
