The Criminal Justice Student Association (CJSA) hosted a Bowling for Nationals fundraiser at Landmark Lanes in Superior on Saturday, February 18. There were over nine teams and many other participants participating in the bowling fiesta, silent auction and 50-50 raffle. Chancellor Dr. Renee Wachter hosted a team of campus leadership. Faculty members Maureen Rappley-Larson (Social Work and Criminal Justice Student Association advisor), Dr. Maria Cuzzo (Legal Studies and Criminal Justice), Mandy Standfield Lilly and Cam Lilly represented the teaching team. There were numerous community bowling teams and student sponsored teams.
The organization raised significant funds to help finance their March 26-31, 2017 Nationals competition in Austin, TX. This is the 80th National Conference for the American Criminal Justice Association-Lambda Alpha Epsilon. The conference theme is "human trafficking" and competitors will learn more about this critical criminal justice issue. UW-Superior's CJSA team earned the right to compete and participate at this national conference and competition due to their outstanding performance at the Regionals in Pewaukee, WI in November 2016.
Watch for more details on the National competition in the near future! CJSA is advised by Maureen Rappley-Larson of Social Work.
