On November 7, Officers Jackie McIntosh and Tou Vang of Lino Lakes Police Department visited the UW-Superior campus.

Officer McIntosh and Vang first met with the Criminal Justice Student Association (CJSA) at their regular meeting in Swenson Hall 3069. Eighteen students were present to hear what officers McIntosh and Vang had to discuss. Members of CJSA had the opportunity to gain insight of the Lino Lakes Police Department, as well as all the opportunities the department offers, such as the cross-training officers have as active firefighters with the Lino Lakes Fire Department. Students also gained insight about the hiring process, as well as important qualities and interest's students should consider if they are seeking a career in law enforcement.

Officer McIntosh and Vang also sat with students between classes answering any questions they had about the law enforcement field and about their department.

Students in Dr. Maria Cuzzo's CJUS 492 Research and Policy class also had the opportunity to meet with Officer McIntosh and Vang. The officers talked to the class about how research impacts police departments and how crucial research is in the career. The class was also able to see a loaded Lino Lakes squad car and how its setup. Students saw Officer Vang's fire gear and could ask about how the department serves as both law enforcement and fire fighters.

"My internship with Lino Lakes was one of the best experiences I have ever had," said UW-Superior senior Torri Hendrickson. "I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend my time with Lino Lakes over the summer and I am even more fortunate to have officers McIntosh and Vang drive here to give my classmates the opportunity to see how amazing of a department Lino is and how great their officers are."
