Douglas County COVID-19 community-based vaccination clinic at Wessman Arena opens April 13

The clinic is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., for anyone ages 16 and older

The University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Siinto S. Wessman Arena is the site of a COVID-19 community-based vaccination clinic.

This Douglas County Public Health vaccination clinic, which opened Tuesday, April 13, is being run by AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, who provides staff and materials. The vaccination clinic is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The site is following state guidelines to vaccinate populations based on eligibility. Available to anyone ages 16 and older, walk-in appointments are now available. An appointment can also be scheduled using the Wisconsin COVID-19 Vaccine Registry. After registration, eligible individuals will be notified of the opportunity to schedule their appointment when openings become available.

The Pfizer vaccination is being administered. Initially, the Douglas clinic plans to administer at least 200 doses per day and has the ability to do up to 500 doses per day, dependent on vaccine supply. These community-based vaccination clinics are located throughout Wisconsin in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, UW System, AMI, and local health departments, vaccinators and governments.

For vaccine-related questions, individuals can call toll-free at (844) 684-1064 . For more information on available COVID-19 vaccination options, visit the Where can I get vaccinated? webpage. Information can also be found on the Douglas County Public Health website and the UW-Superior Spring 2021 Microsite. Parking for the vaccination clinic at Siinto S. Wessman Arena is free.

UW-Superior, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and UW System, continues to host a free COVID-19 testing site for anyone 5 years of age and older in the Marcovich Wellness Center. Registration for a free test can be completed online.

The COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Siinto S. Wessman Arena will not impact any UW-Superior student activities or sporting events. Spring commencement will be held in a virtual format.
