The Link Center: UW-Superior announces new name for office that links university and regional community
The University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) has a new name. Now known as the Link Center, the office serves as a link between the university and the regional community – engaging in mutually beneficial partnerships through which innovative solutions can be discovered to enhance the vitality of the region.
“We believe this new name is more memorable and intuitive for our campus and regional community members,” said Jenice Meyer, community engagement and strategic partnerships senior officer. “Part of UW-Superior’s mission is to engage the community and region in partnerships that enhance students’ education while benefitting the surrounding area. The Link Center helps carry out that mission by serving as a central point of access to the university to address community challenges and seize opportunities.”
The Link Center focuses on four areas:
Community-Engaged Learning
Support UW-Superior students by providing high-quality community-engaged learning experiences to enhance their studies, develop citizenship skills and positively impact their community.
Economic and Workforce Development
Build and engage in strategic partnerships throughout the region to actively contribute to the financial health and vitality of our communities.
Community Relations
Serve as a link between the university and community. UW-Superior strives to not only be a friendly neighbor, but an intentional partner.
Sustained Commitment to Partnership
Sustain commitment and improve infrastructure to support community engagement as a distinguishing feature of UW-Superior.
“The positive impact of partnerships between our campus and area businesses and organizations is tremendous,” said Meyer. “Our students have served over 135,000 hours in the Twin Ports and greater communities. We have over 450 active community partners and our students have participated in more than 2,500 community engagement experiences. These numbers are amazing and the benefits for our students and regional community cannot be overstated. We invite people to contact us with their ideas and needs. We are here to be an engaged and intentional partner.”
