UW-Superior Alumni Association selling apparel to raise money for Yellowjacket Emergency Fund

The UW-Superior Alumni Association is holding a first-of-its-kind fundraiser to raise money for the Yellowjacket Emergency Fund. UW-Superior branded clothing items with the slogan, “Together we are Superior,” are available for sale with all proceeds going to the Yellowjacket Emergency Fund. Orders may be placed online through July 26 at https://uwsaatogether.itemorder.com/sale

The fund provides financial assistance to students involved in catastrophic or emergency situations that negatively impact their ability to function and be successful in their studies. Due to the effects of COVID-19, the need for these funds have increased substantially. So far this year, UWS has awarded nearly $12,000 from the Yellowjacket Emergency Fund to students, along with nearly $800,000 from other grant sources.

“During the many unfortunate COVID-19 challenges that have taken place on campus and in our world, UW-Superior students have been rockstars, adapting to academic and financial changes in a very short period of time,” said Jeanne Thompson, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement. “However, since there was no time to prepare for what has transpired this year, adapting to these educational and personal changes has created financial hardship for many. As a result, we are doing what Yellowjackets do best, and coming together as a community to support our students by raising funds for the recently created Yellowjacket Emergency Fund.”
