Daniel Rust, Ph.D., assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin Superior, has been awarded an Overton Research Fellowship in support of his research for a book about the rise and fall of Trans World Airlines (TWA).
Rust and Alan Hoffman, a retired attorney with four decades of experience in product liability, tort and business litigation, are co-authoring the book and share a common interest in the business lessons that may be gleaned from analyzing the TWA story. They plan to complete an initial manuscript within the next two years before seeking a publisher.
Rust’s most recently published book, The Aerial Crossroads of America: St. Louis’s Lambert Airport, was one of three finalists in the “Regional Non-Fiction: Midwest” category of the 11th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards in 2017.
Rust is a member of the Lexington Group, which funds the Overton Research Fellowship, where he serves as a speaker at the organization’s annual meetings. The Lexington Group boasts more than five hundred members from academia and industry who share a common interest in the history and business of transportation.
Rust is an assistant professor in the School of Business and Economics' Transportation and Logistics Management major at UWS and a researcher for the Transportation and Logistics Research Center. His research interests span airline, railroad, motor carrier, marine and intermodal transportation. He is the author of several books, including Flying Across America: the Airline Passenger Experience and The Aerial Crossroads of America: St. Louis’s Lambert Airport.
