UW-Superior Black Student Union hosting Soul Food dinner
SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Black Student Union organization at the University of Wisconsin-Superior will offer its popular Soul Food dinner and program Saturday, Feb. 23, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Yellowjacket Union Great Room at UW-Superior.
“I love everything about the Soul Food Dinner,” said Opeyemi Omiwale, a double major in economics and business administration with a minor in communication and Black Student Union president. “This is the largest event held by the Black Student Union every year. It is an event that brings people from different backgrounds and ethnicity together in one room in celebration of the Black History Month.”
Music, food and fun will highlight this event which brings the campus and community together. Dr. Mary Canty Merrill, author of “Why Black Lives Matter (Too),” will provide the event keynote. The event will also include performances from Girl Power, which is comprised of students from Denfeld High School.
Tickets are $7 for faculty, staff and community members, and free for the first 100 UW-Superior students. Tickets can be purchased online at: https://uwssoulfood2019.eventbrite.com. The Yellowjacket Union is located at 1605 Catlin Ave. in Superior.
