UW-Superior is now a member of the United Nations Academic Impact

Being a United Nations Academic Impact member brings numerous opportunities to UW-Superior's students and campus

The University of Wisconsin-Superior proudly joins over 1,000 member institutions from more than 120 countries who are members of the United Nations Academic Impact; providing a platform for the university to share ideas and make connections on the global Sustainable Development Goals.

UW-Superior is only the second UNAI member in the UW System. There has already been excitement about the ways in which this opportunity will translate into an enriched experience for students as the university expands its engagement and research on issues of global significance.

UW-Superior faculty, staff and students identified three sustainable development principles to focus on: sustainability, global citizenship and intercultural dialogue.

"Our first-year workplan includes activities such as hosting a United Nations representative to speak to campus on issues of sustainability, panel on global careers, and bringing a delegation to University of Manitoba-Winnipeg to learn about their UNAI focused initiatives," said Dr. Lynn Goerdt, Associate Professor of Social Work; Global Awareness High Impact Practices Coordinator.

Being a UNAI member brings numerous opportunities to UW-Superior students and the campus. These include access to fellowships and scholarships; heightened awareness of research on sustainable development goals and possible collaborations with other UNAI institutions; and access to speakers from the United Nations.
