UW-Superior Link Center announces free virtual speaker
The University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Link Center will present prize-winning author John M. Barry, for a free virtual presentation open to the community from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Barry will cover key findings from his New York Times best-selling book, “The Great Influenza: The story of the deadliest pandemic in history” and what we can learn and apply today. Barry will also discuss the impact of public policy and leadership.
The Great Influenza: The story of the deadliest pandemic in history” was named the 2004 outstanding book on science or medicine by the National Academies of Sciences. In 2006, he became the only non-scientist ever to give the National Academies Abel Wolman Distinguished Lecture, and he was the only non-scientist on a federal government Infectious Disease Board of Experts.
Free registration for this online community presentation is available at: uwsuper.edu/Barry.
This is the first in a four-part series of speakers made possible by a generous grant from the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership and supported by the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service.
