Governor Scott Walker announced $250,000 in grants to be presented to 11 non-profit organizations
The University of Wisconsin-Superior was one of 11 nonprofit organizations to receive grants administered by the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.
"This grant will support our student veterans in numerous ways, from easing their transition, helping them connect and ensuring they are successful in both their academic and career endeavors," said Monte Stewart, Veteran and Non-Traditional Student Services Coordinator. "Without this grant, it would hurt how we’re able to assist our student veterans, so we’re truly grateful of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs for providing this grant."
These grants recognize organizations that provide financial assistance or other service to Wisconsin veterans and their families. The UW-Superior Foundation will use its $25,000 portion to continue providing full programming such as the annual Veterans’ Expo and a leadership program for veterans and their families.
“The UW-Superior Foundation is committed to securing, investing and managing financial resources that support exceptional opportunities for UW-Superior,” said Jason Young, UW-Superior Foundation Development Officer. “We truly appreciate the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs for providing this opportunity. This grant will provide one year of full programming for our Veteran and Non-Traditional Student Center.”
