UW-Superior recognized as national leader in community engagement

UW-Superior named to President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll

The University of Wisconsin-Superior has been recognized as a national leader in community engagement by being named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.

"As the only school within the region to receive this recognition, UW-Superior is quickly becoming the region's premier institution for community engagement," said Jenice Meyer, Academic Service-Learning Coordinator at UW-Superior. "The university seeks to serve the needs of the region through strategic partnerships that leverage its expertise. Receiving the President's Honor Roll highlights the commitment UW-Superior has to leveraging our expertise to aid in meeting the community and regions defined needs and priorities."

The President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll recognizes institutions of higher education that support exemplary community service programs and raise the visibility of effective practices in campus community partnerships.

The Honor Roll's Presidential Award is the highest federal recognition an institution can receive for its commitment to community, service-learning and civic engagement.

"This national recognition highlights UW-Superior's commitment to student success while simultaneously enhancing the vitality of our community and region," said Meyer. "This recognition exemplifies how our institution is committed to providing our students a competitive edge in hands-on, real world learning through Academic Service-Learning partnerships, internship placements, undergraduate research and volunteering events."

CNCS has administered the award since 2006 in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, as well as the American Council on Education, Campus Compact, and the Interfaith Youth Core.
