UW-Superior to host third annual Northland Sonia Kovalevsky Day

The University of Wisconsin-Superior will host the third annual Northland Sonia Kovalevsky Day on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Yellowjacket Union.

This year’s event will include more than 30 students from three area high schools

The University of Wisconsin-Superior will host the third annual Northland Sonia Kovalevsky Day on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Yellowjacket Union.

This day provides mathematical activities and career information for 9th to 12th grade girls in the Superior and Duluth area while increasing exposure to mathematics and its importance in education and future careers. This year’s event will include more than 30 students from three area high schools.

The event will include workshop presentations by Dr. Joshua Stangle from UW-Superior, Nathaniel Bushek from The College of St. Scholastica, and Karlee Westrem from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Stephanie Walls, a biotech specialist with the Pell Corporation, will provide the keynote at noon.

Sponsors for the event include the American Association of University Women, The College of St. Scholastica, University of Minnesota Duluth, and UW-Superior.
