Tuesday evening, June 11, marked the culmination of the University of Wisconsin-Superior’s (UWS) 125th anniversary year with a Community Celebration on campus. Nearly 700 people came to the campus to help celebrate and enjoy a variety of free activities.

Every area of campus was buzzing with action, all of it free and open to the public – a BBQ, bouncy houses and a scavenger hunt for children, sidewalk chalk art activities, an alumni art display, tours of campus, plenty of food and beverages, a Big Top Chautauqua concert, and much more.

“This event was about thanking community members for their continual support and partnership over the course of the university’s history,” said UW-Superior Chancellor Renée Wachter. “It was wonderful to see people of all ages enjoying themselves and connecting with one another. I want to sincerely thank everyone who came and all those who helped make this event such a success.”

The Community Celebration was sponsored by the UW-Superior Foundation; Superior Water, Light & Power; UW-Superior Alumni Association; Superior Choice Credit Union; Charter NEX Films, Inc.; Campbell Lumber and Supply Co.; and Field & Connolly Insurance.

“The support and enthusiasm we felt from all the people who attended this event will propel us into the future,” said Wachter. “We look forward to another 125 years of working together to meet the educational needs of our students and supporting a strong and vibrant City of Superior and northern Wisconsin.”
