The Office of Multicultural Affairs is proud to sponsor programs and events that enrich and honor the lives of not only our American Indian, Asian American, African American, and Hispanic/Latino American students, but the campus community as a whole. Our programs and events help students make important connections within the campus community, gain leadership skills, learn about diverse cultures and issues, and more.
Multicultural Affairs student check-in
This event occurs at the beginning of each academic semester. All students are invited to "check-in" with our office to meet our staff, find out about our programs and services, and receive small gift.
University of Wisconsin System Annual American Multicultural Student Leadership Conference
The annual American Multicultural Student Leadership Conference (AMSLC) provides an opportunity for students of color and economically-disadvantaged students from all of the University of Wisconsin campuses to come together and engage in lively discussions, hear inspiring speakers develop networks, and celebrate their achievements in order to foster leadership and excellence. It is hosted at a different UW campus each year.
Office of Multicultural Affairs/First Nations Center graduation ceremony
Each May, on the evening before the University Commencement program, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and First Nations Center honors and recognizes African American, American Indian, Asian American, Hispanic American, and other students who have been active within our office for graduating from this university with a degree in a recognition ceremony. The ceremony is open to the campus, community and we encourage the graduates' families to join in this cultural celebration. The ceremony and reception are free.
