Dr. Stuart Nelson UW-Superior Pre-Medicine Student Award

This award provides financial support to students enrolled in the UW-Superior Pre-Medicine/Pre-Health program with strong desire to succeed in becoming a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.). To qualify, applicants must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA, must be enrolled full-time in the Pre-Medicine/Pre-Health program, and must submit an essay that details the applicant's strong desire to succeed in medical school, their commitment to strong academic performance at UW-Superior, and their intention of successfully applying to medical school.

Funds received from this award opportunity must be used to help pay the cost of enrolling in and completing a Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) preparatory course, the cost for taking the MCAT, the cost for using the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) to apply to M.D. and/or D.O. medical schools, and/or other expenses related to applying to and being accepted to M.D. or D.O. medical schools.

Current students: Near the beginning of each calendar year, you will receive notification to your UW-Superior email account when it is time to apply for Foundation scholarships and how to do so. Applications usually open at the beginning of February and close at the beginning of March. Scholarships are awarded for the following academic year, beginning with the fall semester. Some scholarships, usually related to study abroad/away, always accept applications. See the Foundation scholarship process information page for details on how to apply.
