For a sophomore, junior, or senior student who is majoring or minoring in English, in good academic standing, and has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Given to three students, respectively, an undergraduate senior majoring in Psychology, a Distance Learning Program student with psychology as one component of an Individually Designed major, and an undergraduate student majoring in English with an interest in poetry.

For students majoring in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or foreign language. Students must have a minimum score of 21 on the ACT or 1,000 on the SAT.

For a student of academic merit with a minor in German. The student should be pursuing a bachelor's degree and must have completed nine credits in a foreign language. Preference should be given in the following order:

  1. A female student
  2. A student from northern Wisconsin
  3. A student majoring in another foreign language

For students majoring in English, preferably incoming freshmen.

For undergraduates who show academic promise in one of the humanities, namely history, literature or philosophy.

For a graduating senior who is accepted for enrollment in a graduate school in the field of History, Philosophy, or Languages and Literature.
