Maawanji’idiwin Scholarship

For a student that has unmet financial need in an academic year, has at least a 2.0 GPA, that self-identifies as Indigenous/Native American/First Nations (with no requirement to prove federal enrollment), and has submitted a 1-2 page essay. 

For a student that has unmet financial need in an academic year, has at least a 2.0 GPA, that self-identifies as Indigenous/Native American/First Nations (with no requirement to prove federal enrollment), and has submitted a 1-2 page essay. The essay should cover the student's strong unmet financial need, their cultural identity/connection/background, their importance of getting an education, the on-campus extra-curricular activities they participate in including why they participate in those activities, and how their culture connects them to things such as communities, families, education, and preserving tradition. Strong preference for a student that is involved with at least one on-campus extracurricular activity and/or involvement in an office or center in the Department of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

Current students: Near the beginning of each calendar year, you will receive notification to your UW-Superior email account when it is time to apply for Foundation scholarships and how to do so. Applications usually open at the beginning of February and close at the beginning of March. Scholarships are awarded for the following academic year, beginning with the fall semester. Some scholarships, usually related to study abroad/away, always accept applications. See the Foundation scholarship process information page for details on how to apply.
