Students can request an appointment with a counselor in person, by email or by phone.
Students are required to fill out an Intake Data form, which will be evaluated by the counseling staff. The student will receive a call from a counselor as soon as reasonably possible to schedule an appointment for an interview and assessment.
Generally, appointments are available with in two weeks of the request. However, students may be put on a waiting list during busy times of the semester.
Students are responsible for notifying their counselor if there is a need to reschedule or cancel an appointment. Students can cancel appointments in person, email or by phone.
If a student arrives more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled session, the appointment will be be rescheduled. If a student misses an appointment, they must call SHCS to reschedule.
If a student does not contact a counselor to reschedule, their case will be closed at the end of that semester and re-opened only when the student initiates contact with a counselor to resume services.
