Technology Information for New Employees

Below we have some descriptions and links to the technology related resources you are most likely to use while at UW-Superior. Our Technology Help Desk is here to help with whatever you may need, please feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have.

  • Technology Help Desk – Contact the Technology Help Desk for help with your technology needs such as login/account issues, resources, equipment checkout, software, and more. For information on submitting a request, please see the Help Desk Tickets page.

  • Resources page – This page provides current resources and training on online systems, software, and technology used by the UW-Superior campus. Look here first if you are seeking information on anything technology related.

  • UW-Superior Login Portal - The Human Resources Office will provide you with an activation letter either by email or in person on your first day of work. This will provide you with your username and instructions on how to create your password through the UW-Superior Login Portal. When setting up your account you will need to set up Dual Factor Authentication, this provides a second level of security when you log into websites authenticated through the UW-Superior Login Portal. If your account has not been created yet you will have to contact Human Resources. Visit our UW-Superior Login Portal section to see videos and step-by-step instructions on how to setup your account.

  • Campus Logins – Provides a list of the most common links to campus logins such as your email, E-Hive, Learn@UWSuperior, OneDrive, and more.

  • Email and Campus Digest – Email is the official form of communication on campus, and all faculty, staff, and students have a UW-Superior email account. Every day at noon you will get a Campus Digest email, this is a summary of all emails sent out to campus.

  • Wireless Access – Personal devices that are not campus owned can connect to the eduroam wireless network; all campus owned devices will connect to our uws-secure wireless network.

  • Phones – This page provides information on how to use your office phone, such as setting up a voicemail greeting, transferring a call, and more. To get a phone set up in your office or have the name changed on the phone in your office please contact the Technology Help Desk.

  • Software Center/Windows Updates - The Software Center is installed on all staff computers and provides Windows updates as well as options for software that you can install on your computer, once a month you will receive an email to update your computer through Software Center.

  • Alertus - When there is an emergency or weather alert on campus, dispatchers will send a notification pop-up on your computer through the Alertus Desktop Notification installed on your university issued computer.

  • Software – UW-Superior provides many types of software for use on campus, such as Microsoft Office 365, the Adobe Suite, SPSS, and more. You can also find discounted software on personal devices through OnTheHub.

  • Microsoft OneDrive – All faculty, staff, and students have 5 terabytes of storage in OneDrive, we highly recommend using this to back up your files. 

  • File Sharing – File sharing is illegal under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, anyone caught illegally file sharing on our network will be required to remove the file or risk losing network access. EDUCAUSE has a list of legal sources of online content on their webpage that is updated regularly, please refer to this page for more information on where to download digital files from.
