Charge:To promote and support undergraduate research, creative activity and scholarship.

Grant: In 2013 UW-Superior was awarded a $266,700 UW System Growth Agenda Grant over three years to create a Center for Undergraduate Research to:

  • Identify, enhance and increase mentored undergraduate opportunities
  • Identify and develop opportunities that match student interests
  • Increase and enhance opportunities within UW-Superior through workshops and mini-grants to support the infusion of URSCA throughout the curricula.

URSCA Committee Activities

  • Promoting Excellent Research-Organizes and sends student researchers to Posters in the Rotunda of the Wisconsin State Capitol and the UW-System Symposium.
  • Celebration of Undergraduate Research- The Committee sponsors a spring day to celebrate undergraduate research - a poster presentation by students across disciplines.
  • SURF-Committee promoted 1st Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF), in summer 2012, for 8 undergraduates and this grew to 10 SURF projects (12 students) in summer 2013. Each project was awarded a $4000 stipend and each mentor received $1000 stipend.
  • Promoting McNair Scholars-URSCA committee partners with McNair Program to encourage students in STEM initiates.
  • Examining Undergraduate Research at UW-Superior: URSCA committee examined how departments and research centers utilize students In URSCA activities.
  • Campus committee interacts with other campuses in the WI System who are also working on integrating undergraduate research into the curriculum
