About

Hailed for his dramatic diversity, baritone and stage director, Jeffrey has performed and directed a varied repertoire from grand opera and operetta to musical comedy. He has over 50 roles to his credit and has performed leading roles with companies including The Minnesota Opera, Minnesota Orchestra, Colorado Symphony, Chautauqua Opera, Jacksonville Symphony, Seattle Opera Young Artists, Western Plains Opera, Fargo-Moorhead Opera, Skylark opera, and an appearance at Carnegie Hall with the Minnesota Orchestra.  Locally, Jeffrey has performed with the Lyric Opera of the North, Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra, Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra, and the Duluth Playhouse. He has also been heard on Minnesota Public Radio as the Father in Hansel and Gretel with the Minnesota Orchestra and as Schaunard in La Bohème with The Minnesota Opera.

Jeffrey’s recent directing credits include productions of Hansel and Gretel, Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Blue Viola with Lyric Opera of the North; The Fantasticks, Company, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee for UW-Superior; a trio of Gilbert and Sullivan shows for the Duluth Playhouse Underground Theater; as well as productions for University of Minnesota Duluth Opera Theater, Big Top Chautauqua, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Opera Theater and Bethel University. Other recent projects include an appearance as Malvolio in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night with Wise Fool Shakespeare Company and stage director for Amahl and the Night Visitors with Skylark Opera and with Northern State University South Dakota.

Jeffrey is a past Metropolitan Opera National Auditions Council district winner and First Place winner in the Schubert Club Competition graduate division.

He earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he received the Recent Outstanding Alumni Award, and his Master of Music and Doctor of Music Arts from the University of Minnesota where he continues to study with John DeHaan.

Jeffrey lives in Superior with his wife and fellow UW-Superior faculty member, soprano, Vicki Fingalson, and their two sons.
