UW-Superior Alumni and Friends Foundation Scholarships
The UW-Superior Alumni and Friends Foundation sponsors scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students. International students who have already begun their studies at UW-Superior are eligible to apply for over 100 Foundation scholarships, which are generally awarded by individual academic departments. In the most recent year, 55% of scholarship applicants were approved for an average scholarship of $1,500.
Student Employment
Many UW-Superior international students hold jobs on campus. U.S. immigration laws allow for student employment under specific conditions.
– Most international students seeking work and willing to work a range of jobs, including in food service, Residence Life, tutoring services and campus recreation have found work. The minimum wage in Wisconsin is $10.50 per hour
– International students in F-1 status are allowed to work on campus up to 20 hours per week while school is in session and full-time during breaks and holidays.
– Off-campus employment is not allowed except under limited conditions set out by U.S. immigration laws.
– Although it is not possible to pay for all tuition and fees with student employment, it is a great way to earn ‘pocket money’ and make useful connections on campus.
– The Office of Intercultural Student Success provides guidance about finding on-campus jobs during international student orientation, and students are responsible for finding their own employment.
