Sadie Ann: Educational Programs

Learning Aboard Sadie Ann

A Coast Guard-certified passenger vessel fitted with the tools of a research vessel, Sadie Ann is an ideal floating classroom.

Teachers can use Sadie Ann to support curriculum or activities of their own design, or they can register their classes for the programs below offered by the Lake Superior Research Institute and aligned with common educational standards.

Freshwater Scientists for a Day

Real tools, real data, real science – students step into the role of freshwater researchers on Lake Superior.

Educational Trip Details

Educational Standards

Both Institute programs are designed to align with state educational standards.

Group Size

Maximum of 49, including students, teachers, and chaperones. Institute programs are designed for classes of 20-30 students.

Dates Offered

May through October

Times

Morning, afternoon or full-day programs are available.

Starting Location

Montreal Pier in Superior, Wisconsin (Sadie Ann can also travel to other ports in western Lake Superior. Contact sadieann@uwsuper.edu for details).

Cost

$1,000 for teacher-led, half-day trips. For costs associated with programs offered by the Lake Superior Research Institute, please contact sadieann@uwsuper.edu.
