Welcome to UW-Superior, we are excited to have you as part of our community!

Please note that much of this information is directed at new UW-Superior students. This page will provide you with the information you need to know about moving to campus as a new, incoming student. We have also included information at the bottom of the page for returning UW-Superior students. If you are a returning UW-Superior student, please scroll to the bottom of this page.

Moving to Campus: General Information

Fall Move-in for New Students (Non-Fall Athletes)

General Move-in Day for new students takes place on Saturday, August 29.

Students will be assigned a 30-minute check-in time slot for arrival that day. We ask that students arrive during that 30-minute time slot for check-in to help with traffic flow. After you have checked in, you will have as much time as needed to move in.

These assignments are emailed to students in early July. Please contact our admissions office if you have concerns or would like to inquire about changing your time.

Move-in Day FAQs

Where do I go to check-in?

STEP 1: Go to the Yellowjacket Union (YU) to start your residence hall check-In process. DO NOT go to your residence hall prior to checking in to the YU as you will not be able to get into your room until you have checked in at the YU.

STEP 2: Drive to your residence hall to park and unload your personal items. Our friendly staff and clear signs will guide you every step of the way to your residence hall.

Where do I park?

First Stop: Yellowjacket Union – park in Lot 2 or 11 – there is no charge for parking during move-in days

Next Stop: Your residence hall – follow campus signs and directions from staff and volunteers for parking.

Parking permits will not be required during move-in. However, parking in metered spaces without payment and/or in ADA accessible spaces without proper permits will result in a citation.

What services are available during move-in?

We know move-in day can feel busy, but we’re here to make it easier! so we’re here to help! Here are some services available during move-in to make your day easier:

Financial Aid – Have questions about scholarships or financial aid? Our team is ready to help you sort it out.
Cashier’s Office – Need to pay your bill or check your account? We’ve got you covered—just stop by.
Parking Services – Planning to keep a car on campus? You’ll need a parking permit for the semester. You can purchase your parking permit during move-in day.

Student-Athletes (New and Returning Fall Athletes)

Fall Student-Athletes

Student-athletes participating in the following fall sports have early move-in dates:

Thursday, August 20: Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Volleyball
Friday, August 28: Cross Country, Golf, Club Soccer

If you’re part of one of these teams, please plan to arrive on campus on your assigned date. Coaches will share additional details as needed.

Winter and Spring Student-Athletes

Winter and spring sport athletes move in during the regular university move-in dates, there are no early arrivals for these teams. For more information about move-in, contact admissions@uwsuper.edu (new students) and reslife@uwsuper.edu (returning students).

International Students

The Office of Intercultural Student Success provides free airport pick up service on the designated arrival dates from the Duluth Airport (Code: DLH). All new international students should submit their arrival information via the link below at least two weeks before your arrival. Contact International Admissions at international@uwsuper.edu with any questions.

New Spring 2026 International Students

Arrival Dates

New Spring 2026 international students should arrive to campus on January 13 (recommended) or 14, 2026. Students are encouraged not to arrive before January 13 and are not permitted to arrive after January 14.

Students arriving on January 12 will:
– Be charged $35/night for early check in (NOTE: students may be assigned a temporary room until their room is available)
– Be picked up from the Duluth International Airport by Intercultural Student Success staff for $40 if a staff member is available.

Students who arrive prior to January 12 will:
– Need to find their own accommodation until the move-in day on January 13.
– Need to arrange for their own local transportation.

Important Information

Airport pick up service is only provided from the Duluth International Airport (code: DLH). The university does not coordinate travel for students arriving to Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport or elsewhere.

Students who will arrive by land (car, bus, etc.) and who live in the residence hall must submit their arrival form and contact ISS staff at iss@uwsuper.edu to arrange a time to pick up a key to their room.

International Orientation is required and will begin the morning of January 14.

International students are also required to attend WoW (Weekend of Welcome) activities, which are held from January 17-20

Classes begin Wednesday, January 21.

Additional Notes

From January 14-20, many but not all meals will be arranged by UW-Superior. The university meal plan begins on Wednesday, January 21. You will have the opportunity to go out to local restaurants during orientation. You will be expected to pay for your meals in these situations. Minimal Residence Life staff will be available before January 20. During that time, students with residence hall related questions can contact the Residence Life Office +1 715-394-8438 via email at reslife@uwsuper.edu.

Continuing and Returning International Students

The meal plan begins on Wednesday, January 21. Continuing/returning international students arriving prior to start of meal plan will need to make alternate arrangements at their own expense.
Minimal Residence Life staff will be available until January 20. During that time, students with residence hall related questions can contact the Residence Life Office +1 715-394-8438 via email at reslife@uwsuper.edu.

The Office of Intercultural Student Success is not able to provide pick-up services for continuing students. Students must arrange their own transportation to campus.

Continuing/Returning UW-Superior Students

Arrival Dates

Continuing/returning students may move in on August 31, September 1, or September 2.

Our residence halls are open throughout the academic year and during breaks.

Check-in Location and Time

– You will check-in at your specific residence hall

– You may check-in during the hours of 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm

– Students arriving prior to August 31 will be charged a fee of $35/night for early check-in to the halls. If a student arrives prior to August 31 and their regular room is not ready, a student may be assigned a temporary room until their assigned room is ready.
