Overview
Whether you’re looking to prepare for a career in theatre or grow in personal creative expression, a minor in theatre at UW-Superior will help you develop invaluable skills and talents that will benefit you in years to come. The University Theatre program at UW-Superior is very hands-on and provides numerous opportunities for students to get involved with theatre productions each semester both on stage and behind the scenes.
UW-Superior produces two to three large productions annually and auditions for each production are open to all UWS students. Holden Fine and Applied Arts Center houses two theaters, a scene shop, costume shop, box office, television studio, media lab and the Wisconsin Public Radio – KUWS 91.3 studio.
A theatre minor is a compliment to any major, providing essential public speaking and performance experience alongside collaborative, team-centered creative opportunities. The facilities, along with our professional and experienced faculty and staff, provide the ideal setting to grow your confidence and talents.
What You’ll Learn
In this program, you’ll learn all aspects of theatre production from acting a d directing, to set and costume design and building, to theatre history and theory. You’ll also have opportunities to learn film/TV production in courses such as Writing for the Stage and Screen and Acting for the Screen.
The theatre minor has allowed me to continue to pursue my passion in theatre while also focusing on my main degree. The professors are supportive of all the students regardless of experience and the classes have aspects that carry over to other classes as well. My college experience has improved greatly by being involved in the theatre department.
