About

Dr. Jane Howard is an assistant professor in the Department of Education’s graduate counselor education program. She earned her MSE in community counseling from UWS and her Ph.D. in general psychology from Grand Canyon University. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Minnesota. Dr. Howard’s professional experience ranges from counseling homeless women in a transitional residence in downtown Chicago to launching a prevention program, writing psychoeducational curricula, and providing therapy for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in suburbs of Chicago and Minneapolis. She is trained in conducting Rule 20 competency interviewing in Minnesota forensic settings. In addition, she has worked as a therapist for two Minnesota Anishinabe tribes, the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. She is excited to foster the development of the next generation of mental health therapists and counselors in the program from which she graduated at the start of her career.Â
