About
Before coming to UW-Superior, Daniel served as Assistant Director of the Center for Transportation Studies and Assistant Teaching Professor of Marketing/Logistics and Operations Management in the College of Business Administration at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). He founded and developed the undergraduate Transportation Studies program at UMSL.
His most recent book, The Aerial Crossroads of America: St. Louis’s Lambert Airport, was one of three finalists in the “Regional Non-Fiction: Midwest” category of the 11th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards in 2017.
Daniel enjoys hiking and biking on trails in the Twin Ports region. His hobbies include drawing and oil painting, as well as photographing all modes of transportation.
Research
Daniel’s research interests span all modes of transportation. Some of his past research includes investigating the use of video event data recorders (EDR) in private fleet vehicles; creating an inventory of transportation and logistics providers in Missouri; surveying Class I railroad female operations employees; and conducting a model analysis of the effect of reduced ice coverage on Great Lakes marine transportation.
Articles by Daniel have appeared in publications such as the Journal of the Transportation Research Forum, Enterprise and Society, Business and Economic History, and the International Journal of Revenue Management.
