The University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Dr. Lydia Thering and Ms. Joan Hedrick Lecture Series will open its fall season with licensed marriage and family therapist Dr. Sonya Lutter on Monday, October 27, at 5 p.m. in the Yellowjacket Union Great Room.
Free and open to the public, the event will feature a presentation by Lutter on financial literacy across the lifespan, followed by a Q&A and meet-and-greet session.
Lutter specializes in the intersection of finance and psychology. As a researcher, educator, speaker, and author, her work explores how emotional and relational factors influence financial behavior. She has authored or co-authored more than 100 publications and leads research on financial wellness, stress, and cross-cultural financial health.
She also contributes to the CFP Board’s Financial Planning Longitudinal Study, which examines the impact of holistic financial planning on client outcomes. Her outreach includes educational initiatives such as webinars on wealth management and financial literacy.
Recognized for her contributions to the field, Lutter also mentors Ph.D. candidates in personal financial planning. Her work underscores the importance of integrating psychological well-being into financial planning to support individuals and families in achieving financial health.
