Overview

UW-Superior’s School of Business and Economics offers a business minor as an on-campus degree. The business minor provides non-business majors with an excellent opportunity to acquire and apply business knowledge and skills to an array of different majors. For many career paths, it can be just as important to have a strong understanding of how your industry or area of focus functions in the business world as it is to understand the career itself. A minor in business provides supplementary knowledge in business to market yourself for more advanced career opportunities. Students commonly combine a business minor with majors such as art therapy, health and wellness management, music, social work and many others to broaden their resume for the job market.

What You’ll Learn

In this 24-credit minor, you will take core courses to understand the principles of how businesses operate as well as choose two elective courses to personalize your minor based upon specific interests and goals. Through this minor, you will cover:

  • Basics of accounting, economics, finance, marketing, and management
  • Internships and academic service-learning courses will provide hands-on experience
  • How to analyze, reflect, synthesize, conclude, interpret, appraise, and design business models
  • Fundamentals of business laws, logistics, entrepreneurship, international business environment, retail marketing, and sales management

My experience in the UWS business minor program has been thoroughly good. Because of the program, I feel confident in my ability to navigate multiple areas in the world of business. The professors are incredibly helpful and encourage active learning on all levels. It is through the program that I have learned many concepts that transcend the world of business and are applicable in other areas of my life.
