Perkins Loan Borrower Information

The Perkins Loan is a Federal need-based student loan administered by UW-Superior. The loan is a fixed low-interest (5%) loan with repayment of principal and interest beginning nine (9) months after graduation, or when enrollment drops below half time status or when you leave the university. Interest does not accrue as long as student is enrolled at least half-time.

The Federal Perkins Loan program, which provided low-interest loans to college students with an exceptional financial need, is no longer available, the program expired September 30, 2017.

All Perkins Loans awarded at UW-Superior are serviced by Heartland Campus Solutions/ECSI. Students who have questions about repayment, loan deferment, or loan forgiveness should contact ECSI at 1-888-549-3274 or visit the ECSI website.

ECSI provides web-based access to your account, allowing you to verify when your payments have been received, update address and phone information, verify account balances, obtain loan payoff amounts, sign-up for electronic billing, and make payments. ECSI provides payment options such as recurring electronic funds transfer and credit card payments (additional fee applies to some eCheck and credit card payments).
