Teaching Philosophy

“As a classroom teacher, I am committed to creating the conditions that allow creativity and artistic self-discovery to unfold. I support an environment that encourages students to value presence, groundedness, and emotional courage in their artistry. My teaching guides students to view their training in the theatre as being part of a life-long pursuit of knowledge and growth, rather than a destination. I acknowledge strong work ethic and support incremental progress with clear, specific, and non-judgmental feedback. I believe that the long-term objective of training in theatre is to develop our mental, emotional, and physical tools in ways that will support our development as self- generative artists. I underscore for students the importance of careful research, precise technique and dedication to self-study as the cornerstones of the professional actor’s training and introduce to students the necessary tools to create with confidence.”
