Overview
UW-Superior’s adaptive physical education certificate program prepares you to teach individuals with disabilities and design individualized programs. Through your coursework combined with enriching experiences working with individuals with disabilities, you will gain knowledge about adapted physical education topics. These include human development, motor behavior, exercise science, instructional design, unique attributes of learning, measurement, curriculum development and teaching.
You will also engage in an off-site practicum working with K-12 students with disabilities and adults with disabilities in various community programs.
This set of courses meets Wisconsin certification requirements for the K-12 Adapted Physical Education (APE) (860) supplementary license when paired with the K-12 physical education major. Licensure requires completion of the teacher certification coursework and one semester of student teaching.
